In 2019, this newsletter started with one question: how do we actually understand climate change and what can we do about it?
Seven years later, that question built a podcast, a community of builders, and an early-stage venture firm. Today, we’re renaming it.
MCJ is now Override Ventures.
The name Override reflects the type of founders we back. We invest in founders who see where the systems the world runs on are about to break and who override the default before consensus catches up. That default may be monolithic and dirty energy systems, inflexible or brittle infrastructure, or the assumption that we can no longer build quickly in America to fix these things.
What isn’t changing is our team, our commitment to founders, and our conviction that the impacts of climate change and the transition in energy, infrastructure and industry are inevitable.
What this means for you: The newsletter stays the same. Every week, you’ll get the latest episode of the Inevitable podcast, our newest investments, insights from our partners and the broader ecosystem, and the occasional contributor essay, free as always.
One thing is changing: our member community is now free and open to anyone building, investing in or working towards what comes next in energy, infrastructure, and industry.
Thank you for learning with us since that first email. The journey continues under a new name.
